Flavorful Apple Pie

The flavor of apple pie made with good quality apples and the heavenly taste of it is what we are after in this post. Your loved ones will also appreciate the decorations and efforts you put in it. We can ask our kids to do the design and make them proud with the finished product! You can make shapes of hearts for your valentine, or flowers, or something else that your children like.

As for the history of apple pie, the earliest printed recipe is from England. It is often served with whipped cream, ice cream or cheddar cheese.

Let´s make one, shall we?

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 puff pastries
  • 4-6 apples
  • 140g brown sugar
  • 1tbs lemon juice
  • 1/2tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/4tsp ginger powder
  • 1/4tsp nutmeg
  • 30g corn starch
  • 1/4tsp salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel and cut the apples into slices.
  2. Add 4 tsp brown sugar to lemon juice and set aside.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt and cornstarch) and set aside.
  4. Add the mixture of sugar and lemon to the cut apples, cover with transparent plastic wrap and reserve for 20 minutes.
  5. Now add the dry ingredients and let stand for 15 more minutes.
  6. Drain with the help of a strainer to discard the liquid that the apples have released.
  7. Pour the apples in the puff pastry that has been previously placed in the cake mold.
  8. The second sheet of puff pastry is cut into strips and placed on top of the apples, making the desired design.
  9. Beat an egg with a tablespoon of milk and paint the puff pastry with a brush.
  10. Sprinkle with a little sugar.
  11. Put it in the oven at 190C for about 60 minutes, we can put aluminum foil on top so that the puff pastry does not burn.
  12. Remove from the oven and allow to stand at room temperature.
  13. It can be eaten after an hour and a half of cooling with a little ice cream, or it can be left until it cools completely.
